During the 2018 season of The Voice Kids UK, one of the most unforgettable moments came when 7-year-old Shaney-Lee stepped onto the stage to sing John Denver’s beloved classic, “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” His performance took place in the first round of blind auditions and quickly became one of the most touching highlights of the season.
From the very first notes, it was clear that Shaney-Lee had a deep love for country music. Dressed in his cowboy hat and boots, he looked every inch the young country artist. But it was his pure, heartfelt singing and genuine innocence that truly captured everyone’s hearts. His gentle voice added a fresh, youthful charm to the classic tune, blending nostalgia with sweetness.
The judges — Will.i.am, Pixie Lott, and Danny Jones — were clearly moved by the performance. As Shaney-Lee’s soft, melodic tone filled the studio, the audience erupted in cheers, and soon two chairs spun around. Danny Jones from McFly was the first to turn, followed by Pixie Lott, both eager to mentor the young singer whose natural talent and sincerity shone through.
