In the 2018 season of The Voice Kids UK, one standout moment was when 7-year-old Shaney-Lee took the stage to perform the timeless classic, “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver. His performance came during the first round of the blind auditions, and it quickly became one of the most heartwarming and memorable moments of the season.
From the moment Shaney-Lee started singing, it was clear that he had a special connection to country music. With his cowboy hat and boots, Shaney-Lee looked every bit the part of a young country star, but it was his heartfelt vocals and innocent charm that truly won over the audience. His tender voice brought a unique, youthful energy to the classic song, capturing both the nostalgia of the original and the innocence of his age.
The judges – Will.i.am, Pixie Lott, and Danny Jones – were visibly moved by his performance. As Shaney-Lee’s soft, melodic voice filled the room, the crowd began to cheer, and soon enough, two chairs turned in quick succession. Danny Jones, from the band McFly, was the first to turn, followed by Pixie Lott. Both were excited to work with Shaney-Lee and recognized the potential in his pure, unpolished talent.
