The moment Ryley stepped onto The Voice stage, the coaches had no idea they were about to witness something extraordinary. Kelly Clarkson was the first to hit her button, followed closely by Niall Horan—but by the time Ryley’s performance ended, all four coaches were left in total shock, especially when they learned his age.
“I didn’t hear anything after 15!” Kelly blurted out, still processing what she had just heard. “You’re 15 and sounding like that?”
Niall, reminiscing about his own teenage audition on The X Factor, couldn’t hold back his admiration. “That was the best audition we’ve heard, by a long shot,” he raved.
Chance the Rapper, equally impressed, praised Ryley’s flawless vocal runs and compared his style to experimental R&B artists like Steve Lacy. “I would love to see what you could do in that space,” he added, making his pitch.
And then came Blake Shelton, pulling out all the stops for his final season. With his signature humor, he made an offer no contestant had ever heard before:
“You pick me as your coach, and I will quit coaching after this season,” he declared, sparking laughter from the audience. “I will walk away. I will be satisfied that I got the chance to work with you, Ryley.”
