When Nathan heard Oscar, his dog, barking obstinately outside, he got up. He was shocked to discover an abandoned infant resting next to his devoted dog when he stepped outside to investigate. His life would never be the same after that baby.
Nathan was renowned for his charity and kindness despite his affluence. Prior to learning three months ago that his wife had been having an affair with a close friend, he led a comfortable life.
Nathan divorced her as a result of this betrayal. His ex-wife and her lover relocated to a different state. Everyone could see that Nathan was lonely, but he continued to be good to others in spite of the sadness.
Nathan took in a puppy, Oscar, to help him cope with his isolation.
With a sorrowful smile, he remarked, “At least you won’t ever betray me.
Nathan was too busy to teach Oscar to be autonomous and obedient. Oscar would walk to the yard every afternoon to stretch his legs and return by himself.
Nathan saw Oscar hadn’t come back one day while he was watching a movie. He went outdoors, worried. He followed the sound to the road after hearing distant barking. There, he discovered Oscar seated by a baby on the grass.
He made a stop to get some clothes, diapers, and baby formula before heading home. After getting home, he changed and nursed the infant before phoning the police.
“Outside, this baby was by himself. No grownups in the area. He told the authorities, “I had no choice but to bring her in.”
In an attempt to locate the parents, the officials stated that they will examine the CCTV footage. The child had to be put with a foster home in the interim.
Nathan decided right away.
I could act as her guardian. I can look after her because I work from home.
Following a brief background investigation, he was placed into temporary custody.
Weeks went by. Nathan was loving and committed to the little girl’s care. She was placed for adoption after her biological parents could not be located. Nathan started the process of permanently adopting her right away. He gave her the name Anna in remembrance of his own mother, who reared him by herself.
He had a daughter named Anna. He raised her in bliss, protected her, and showered her with love. They laughed, played games, went to the park, and shared everything.
Teachers and parents started noticing how much she resembled him at school when she was seven years old. They even appeared “like twins,” according to her classmates.
Anna and a biological kid were identical, but Nathan had never noticed the difference. Every time someone brought up their similarity, he grinned.
Anna suffered a minor head injury after falling one day while playing in the yard with Oscar. Nathan discovered something unexpected when tending to the wound.
“Observe, Anna… Stunned, he added, “We have the exact same birthmark.” Beneath her hair, he had never seen it before.
She wiped away her tears and added, “Daddy, we were meant to be together.”
Nathan ordered a DNA test out of curiosity. He submitted a sample of his own and Anna’s hair. The results came in three weeks later. The result was a 99.9% match.
Nathan was astounded by his sight. Having always been faithful, he suddenly understood that his ex-wife must have been expecting his child at the time of their split.
He called her.
“What kept you from telling me we had a daughter?”
– “Because I had no intention of raising her.” I didn’t want to see you ever again. I knew you would ultimately track her down. Farewell.
She ended the call. Overwhelmed, Nathan held the report close to his chest. In biological terms, Anna was his daughter. In his heart, though, she had always been his daughter.
“Nothin’, my love. I’m simply overjoyed. Do you recall that even though I wasn’t your biological father, you were an angel sent from heaven?
She gave a nod.
“You are my biological father. She gave him a hard hug and remarked, “Never forget that.”
“Yes, Anna. He handed her the document and continued, “And this test proves it.”
She said, “I told you… we were meant to be together.”
A few years later, Nathan fell in love once more—at an Anna school function. Anna became an older sister two years after he married a generous teacher.
Nathan’s family is all around him now. To spend as much time as possible with his kids, he retired early.
