Petty Levels, a rising social media personality and rapper, has tragically passed away at the age of 23. Authorities confirmed that her real name was Mia Armaj Bennett, and she was originally from Philadelphia.
According to the Tampa Police Department, Bennett’s body was discovered earlier this month in a neighborhood near Northwest Tampa, close to the airport. Officers responded to a call around 1:30 p.m. reporting the discovery of a body.
A spokesperson later confirmed to The Philadelphia Inquirer that the deceased was indeed Bennett. At this time, officials have found no immediate evidence of foul play, though the case remains under investigation. The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released the official cause of death.
As speculation spread online—some falsely claiming she had died in Philadelphia—one family member urged the public to refrain from making assumptions. Speaking anonymously to the Inquirer, they said:
“All of these claims and comments are not true. We don’t even know exactly what happened. If everybody could please bear with us, I’m begging you—our family is devastated.”
Bennett first gained attention in high school by sharing lifestyle videos on social media—featuring dance clips, travel highlights, and glimpses into her personal life. In 2018, she transitioned into music, using the name Petty Levels, and quickly built a fan base with her bold rap videos.
She collaborated with artists like Latto and Fredo Bang on the track “Freak,” and released her own singles including “Ain’t It” and “Malibu.” Despite early nerves about moving from Instagram fame into the music industry, Bennett was determined to make her mark.
In a 2019 interview with SayCheeseTV, she said:
“Just know that Petty Levels will not just be an Instagram name. Sooner or later it will be on billboards, it will be on your playlists, it will be on the radio—it will be everywhere you go.”
Following the news of her passing, tributes have poured in from fans and fellow artists alike. Bennett had amassed over a million followers online and was admired for her vibrant energy, raw talent, and ambition.
She leaves behind a legacy as both a digital influencer and a rising voice in hip-hop.
