Every guest froze, a glass fell, and the sound of glass shattering filled the stillness. Nobody knew what was going on or why the bride was acting in that manner.The groom was scarcely able to stand. He didn’t get the chance to express what he wanted to.

A local oligarch’s daughter, Milena, was casually mentioned by one of his pals one evening while sipping a pricey glass of whiskey.
“Have you heard? There is a daughter of that man. Quite plump, to put it mildly,” one friend grinned. “Who is brave enough?”
“I do,” Alex replied coolly.

Her eyes welled up with tears of happiness when he proposed. The town was abuzz with talk about this surprise wedding as the preparations got underway.
There was silence in the packed church. Every attendee was there, including family friends, business associates, and significant others. Alex stood at the altar with assurance. Taking Milena’s hand, he said:

She went on plainly, “I know you placed a wager with your friends.” “That you desired to win me over and take me to the altar in order to obtain my father’s wealth.”
Milena’s father, who was seated in the first row, got up gradually. His bodyguards, three men in dark suits, rose behind him.
“Alex,” he remarked coolly, “I believe you are aware of the exit. You will be escorted by my men.
The groom was led out of the church by the bodyguards in a composed manner. The guests were unable to speak.
With her head held high and tears in her eyes, Milena stood at the altar. She faced the crowd:
“I would have married someone today. Rather, I evolved into the woman who made her own decisions.
