I believe duets are vastly underappreciated. While I appreciate a superb solo performance, two individuals can achieve a depth that no other method can express. A vocal duo harmonizing with each other is one of the nicest sounds in music. But this specific performance is even more unique since it is a ballad between a mother and son!
Jamie, 15, had auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent expecting to travel alone, but he decided a few days before the audition that he couldn’t do it. Rather than backing out, he sought his mother’s assistance. Mel’s day job involved singing in nursing homes, so she gladly consented. And the outcome was spectacular.
Before the song, the judges notice the wonderful relationship between the two. Jamie begins singing “Say Something” by A Great Big World with a wonderful voice. When Mel joins him in harmony, it elevates the performance!
